Preserving Our Legacy Through Storytelling and Community Engagement

THOU (The History Of Us) is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing African American history through powerful, intergenerational storytelling. Each week, families and community leaders from across the nation share lesser-known historical narratives, ensuring these stories are remembered and passed down authentically.

Every day, invaluable history is lost—stories never shared, voices never heard. THOU is committed to capturing these stories, educating future generations, fostering family bonds, and strengthening communities by empowering people to reclaim their cultural heritage.

Becoming part of our movement is simple and rewarding:

1. What is THOU?

THOU (The History Of Us) is a movement dedicated to preserving and teaching African American history through weekly live lessons. Every Thursday at 7:30 PM, families and community leaders go live on TikTok to teach their children and others about important historical events, figures, and cultural contributions that may not be covered in traditional school curriculums.

3. What is the mission of THOU?

Our mission is to ensure that African American history is taught, preserved, and passed down, despite efforts to remove it from school curriculums. We aim to engage fathers, build strong community learning experiences, and foster a love for history through storytelling.

2. What does THOU stand for?

THOU stands for The History Of Us, emphasizing that history is a shared experience, not just for one group but for everyone. The name also plays on the word “thou” to evoke wisdom, tradition, and the passing down of knowledge.

4. Who can participate in THOU?

THOU is open to everyone who values history. While the focus is on African American studies, the goal is to educate all people about history’s role in shaping our world. Parents, educators, students, and community leaders are all encouraged to participate.

5. Can I go live and teach a history lesson?

Yes! THOU is recruiting 52 individuals to cover weekly lessons for the first year. If you are interested in sharing knowledge, you can sign up to go live on TikTok and teach a lesson. We also encourage other fathers to build their TikTok audience to 1,000+ followers so they can go live in the future.
